Claremont Fan Court Remembers

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Pupils from the Senior School and Prep School gathered together on Friday 9 November for the World War I Centenary Remembrance Service, joined by The Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of Elmbridge, Councillor Mrs Shweta Kapadia and her Consort Mr Ramesh Kapadia and Chair of Governors Mr Gordon Hunt.

Vocal performances and poetry readings, together with wonderful orchestral pieces, made for a moving and poignant service.

All pupils and staff observed a two minute silence followed by The Last Post played beautifully at the eleventh hour in honour of all those who gave their lives during wars both past and present.

To mark the 100 year anniversary of the end of the First World War, Senior School textile pupils have created an artistic piece of work which is currently on display in the Mansion reception. The pupils have handmade and embellished 100 felt poppies and attached them to a replica army coat.

On Sunday 11 November the Head Girl and Head Boy, accompanied by Headmaster Mr Brierly, joined members of the public in Esher to lay a wreath at the town's war memorial at the annual service of remembrance.
