Pre-Prep School receive letter from Sir David Attenborough

As part of Habitat Day, the children wrote some wonderful letters addressed to Sir David Attenborough, all about the Forest School and outdoor classroom activities and Sir David wrote back!

At Claremont Fan Court School, we are fortunate to have 100 acres of beautiful wide open space for pupils to enjoy, much of which is inhabited by local wildlife. Last term, Year 1 children in the Pre-Preparatory and Nursery took part in outdoor Habitat Day activities. As part of Habitat Day, the children wrote some wonderful letters addressed to Sir David Attenborough, all about the Forest School and outdoor classroom activities they have been enjoying.

Much to the delight of staff and pupils, Sir David Attenborough responded with a handwritten letter. He wrote: “I am truly admiring of the work you are doing in acquainting your children with what is going on in a world that they will soon inherit.“

As well as learning lots about wildlife and habitats surrounding our School, the children have been learning about single-use plastic and the damaging impact it is having on our environment both on land and in our oceans. In assemblies, children are encouraged to throw litter away when at School and have been creating displays on the different ways we can reuse, reduce and recycle plastic to help protect the environment and animal habitats.
